Workshops
Workshops and classes are offered in a variety of jewelry design, bead making, and handwork skills, including wire work, art clay silver, soldering, mixed media, metal work, crystal setting, chainmaille, bead work, hand knotting, color on metal, glass pendants, Kumihimo, creating beads, bracelets and necklaces, earrings, creative connections, spinning and hand weaving, lace knitting, metal texturing, glass clay, collage, art fibers, found object jewelry, design skills, polymer clay, and resin jewelry.
This is a great opportunity to learn a new handwork skill or take your designs to a new level. Most workshops and classes are between 2 to 5 hours, but some may take up to 8 hours depending on the techniques that are taught. There are also numerous mini-workshops, "make and takes", and demos normally lasting around 30 minutes, which offer ways to explore new mediums. This year will include free demonstrations by many new artists along with favorites such as Christi Friesen.
Skill Levels
Workshops and classes are taught at “all levels”, “beginner”, “intermediate” and “advanced”. “Intermediate” and “advanced” levels may require some skills, such as wire working, and are recommended for students who already have some experience or have completed a “beginner” class. The “all levels” and “beginner” classes are for all levels of expertise from novice to expert, and no prior skills are needed. In this category is the Lovely Links Bracelet, where you can learn how to “set stones” using wire and Swarovski crystal.
Materials-Registration
Many workshops include all materials and tools, however some require that you either bring or purchase various materials. Other classes may include only part of the needed materials —check with the teacher for a complete listing of materials and tools that are provided. Early reservations for workshops are recommended. Workshop Locations
Workshops and classes are located in the meeting rooms and conference areas of the Fess Parker Doubletree, and at exhibitor's booths. More information about a particular workshop's location can be found on its description page, show brochure, or by contacting the class instructor.
